Sourdough Pizza Ideas

Get ready for a real treat.  Sourdough Einkorn pizza crusts have a slightly tangy flavor which compliments so many ingredients for creative pizza connoisseurs.

To make your pizza, heat your oven to 450 or maybe even 500, depending on your oven.  Place a pizza stone on the middle rack to get piping HOT.  Meanwhile, drizzle olive oil and add toppings to your crust.  Bake for 5-7 minutes on the hot stone at 450 degrees.  I keep the oven light on and admire the process so I can pull the pizza out at just the right time.  I like my crust golden and slightly crispy.

Topping ideas:
  1. Sweet & Savory - Italian sausage  (My favorite is Mulay's - Nana's Original Italian - from Natural Grocers), marinara sauce if you must, but sometimes I just drizzle extra olive oil, sliced figs, caramalized onions, roasted red pepper, sheep's milk feta, and top with chopped arugula and a sweet balsamic glaze.
  2. Margherita - Marinara sauce, sliced mushrooms (optional), dollops of fresh mozzarella, lots of fresh basil, plus one final drizzle of olive oil and sprinkle of sea salt, and/or red pepper flakes and dust with Parmigiano-Reggiano
  3. Grandkid Favorites:
    1. Sauce, pepperoni, lots of Italian cheese mix
    2. Sauce, pepperoni, italian sausage, and lots of cheese
    3. Or, just make a butter-garlic-cheese bread using your crust, with your favorite herbs.
